Ayrton Senna da Silva (São Paulo, March 21, 1960 - Bologna , 1 May 1994 ) was a Brazilian racing driver , three times Formula 1 World Champion in 1988 , 1990 and 1991 .
Considered one of the strongest Formula 1 drivers of all time , he has proved to be an absolute champion in dry conditions , but also and especially in the wet , often succeeding in exciting companies . He had the ability to bring his car to the limit and a great sensibility in the car development and selection of tires.
Particularly fast in qualifying lap, Senna was the pilot, after Juan Manuel Fangio, Jim Clark and Alberto Ascari , who won more pole position in relation to the Grands Prix , and is the third rider in the standings for the number of wins ( 41 ) behind Michael Schumacher (91) and Alain Prost (51).
He died following a crash in the San Marino Grand Prix in 1994.

Twenty years ago...Imola Grand Prix...seventh lap...the Williams FW16 that crashed at the Tamburello curve...
I remember that day like yesterday. We were at friends home, all sit in front of tv to watch the Grand Prix ... all still shaken up for the death of Roland Ratzenberger but ready to support our Champion.
Suddenly the crash...we stared at the screen...stared at the screen ... shocked ... anxious ... the news kept coming relentlessly ... then the terrible confirmation ... Our Ayrton was gone, there was no more ..
I remember tears streaming down our faces, the feeling of deep sorrow and despair.
Even today I can not watch the video without feeling immense pain.
But I have good memories. I remember when we got up very early in the morning to arrive early at the Autodromo of Monza, and conquer our favorite place on the platform outside the Variante Goodyear, that now is different, and to attach the flags of Brazil to pay tribute to our champion ... every time he passed and he gave us a little wave with his hand we exploed in a big applause.
And I remember the lucky day we met him...he dedicate to us few minutes and we were so happy...
You were our pilot Ayrton, and we were there for you.
You will continue to live forever in our hearts Ayrton, our respect and our affection for the Man and the Champion will remain forever alive into us.
