During the Middle Ages, many people believed that owls had to do with witchcraft. It was believed that on Halloween night, demons in the form of owls were traveling along with the witches and their cats aboard broomsticks to go to the Witches' Sabbath.

Even in ancient Rome the owl was bird of ill omen: their presence meant bad luck (the owl was called STRIX by the Romans, a word that means WITCH), and even today there are those who think that to hear an owl in the dark of night indicates death or bad omens.

But not everyone put in relation the owl and bad omens: the ancient Greeks considered him a sacred bird, companion of Athena - the goddess of wisdom and patron of the city of Athens. That's why the owl is a bird called "old and wise". The owl also accompanied the ancient Roman goddess of war, Minerva. The owl is a very lucky symbol for witches, and people born under one of the three Earth signs (Taurus, Capricorn and Virgo).

Back then, He wanted to make a great gift to it : it would become the pet of good fortune, the one that always brought with it the good wishes to improve the lives of those who would held close il to them, without being afraid.

An old nursery popular mountain rhyme, says:

"Owl, dark night owl, which takes away hunger and fear .. watches over all
our people, aged people, children and cattle. With your birdsong, which can be frightening,
Protect friends and Mother Nature ... Fairies, gnomes and pesky goblins, not
will make us more mischief. "

That is why the presence of one or more owls in a house, will make excellent and
deepest wishes of good health and happy luck!
