Leonardo Da Vinci was a real genius, ahead of his time.
He studied the mechanism of the eye to understand how the three-dimensional view works, due to the superposition of two images slightly offset.
He boiled a bull's-eye in the egg white, so you can dissect and see what is inside. He found the retina and the optic nerve, and reported these observations in his drawings.

Studiò il funzionamento dell'occhio per comprendere come funziona la visione tridimensionale ad opera della sovrapposizione di due immagini leggermente sfalsate.
Fece bollire un occhio di bue per poterlo dissezionare e vedere come era fatto all'interno. Scoprì la retina ed il nervo ottico e disegnò quanto osservato.
